Groups are a great way to connect with users around an organization, activity, or passion.
Groups List
Open the groups list by tapping on the groups list icon.
Groups you are a member of are displayed in the groups list. In the groups list you can:
- Search for a group you are a member of.
- Sort by recent or alphabetically.
- Join a new group using a group code.
- Go to one of your groups.
Group Page
All groups can have 3 components on their page: banner, dashboard, and newsfeed.
Banner
At the top of the page is the group banner. The group banner contains:
- Group name and description
- Thumbnail and banner photo
- Members list
- Channels
- Group menu
Members List
The members list let’s you see all the members of the group and the group admin. You can also:
- Get Invite Link to share the group with others.
- Search for a specific group member.
- Take action with a specific member using the user menu.
- Personally connect with a member. They will receive a connection request.
Group Menu
The group menu gives you access to more features. You can:
- Search the group
- Go to the group chat (in messages, if it is enabled for your group)
- Invite other users to the group
- Share the group
- Leave the group
- Add a quick link to the group in your quick links menu
Channels
Channels provide a way for group leaders to share information and for group members to engage with each other. In most cases, a channel is like a content feed. You can:
- Go back to the group dashboard
- Open the channel menu
- Search the channel
- Share a post (if enabled)
- Engage with a post by sharing, hearting and commenting (if enabled)
Channels are configurable so you might be able to do something in one channel and not in another. For example, some channels allow members to post and other channels only allow group admins to post (the group leaders). Engagement options might also be different per channel. For example, in one channel you might heart (like) a post but in another channel you might rate or vote on a post instead. Comments and sharing might also be turned on or off for different channels. Group admins decide what engagement options are available in each channel.
Group Dashboard
Each group has a dashboard. It’s displayed directly below the group banner and above the newsfeed. The dashboard is customizable so each group will have a different looking dashboard.
Group Newsfeed
The group newsfeed displays posts from the group. These posts will always come from a channel. The group admin can decide whether a specific channel displays its posts in the newsfeed. Put another way, just because the group has a channel doesn’t mean posts from that channel will be displayed in the newsfeed. For channels like this, you can go to the channel to view those posts. Posts from outside your group might appear in the group newsfeed if the group admin has subscribed the group to any external channels. The group newsfeed is optional and can be disabled by the group admin.
